Family Letters - October 4th, 2009

Hi everyone,

Thought I would drop a note. It has been forever since I last wrote. Here in Rexburg, we are in the middle of potato harvest. The time off began on Friday and continues until they return to school next Monday. This year the district shortened the harvest by two days. Fewer students are working for the farmers. Many of the seasonal workers are adults. I would imagine because of the economic situation.

So during harvest, we are doing a few things. We began by watching our neighbors' three dogs. I think I have said before that this is no ordinary duty. These pets are like their family so we watch them as if they were children, except for the few hours they are kenneled. I promise we would not do that to any of our children. Tomorrow they are off to a dog hotel in Idaho Falls for the duration of our neighbor's vacation. We just had them for the weekend.

On Friday, Kirsten is getting her wisdom teeth removed by an oral surgeon in Idaho Falls. She is dreading this occasion. Don't blame her.

Sarah has a ganglion (sp.?) cyst on her wrist and will be having that removed a week from Thursday. She has been complaining of discomfort for a couple of years. But we just thought it was over use or something. Then a few weeks ago she high-fived someone and caused it to hurt much more. After a Dr.'s visit, the diagnosis was determined to be a cyst.

Most of my time will be spent at the sewing machine. I have four costumes to sew for the high school musical and two for the Nutcracker. I'm feeling lots of pressure.

Dave is planning to do some catch up around the house. Our yard is in need of his attention. The washing machine is on the blink as is the dishwasher. Lets just say he will not be wondering what to do. Maybe he will even get the living room painted.

I hope you all enjoyed conference as much as I. We are thankful to have such timely counsel. It is a blessing that we can hear revelation from our Heavenly Father by just tuning into the tv, radio, or the internet.

Well, love to all of you.

Julie Anne

Family Letters - August 16th, 2009

Hi everyone,

It has been a long time since I have sent an e-mail. Summer can be a little distracting. We are all doing fine. Some would say that we are looking towards the school year now. Others would be in denial. Probably the biggest news of the week is that Kirsten finally obtained her driver's permit. Yes, that is 2 1/2 years after taking the driver's ed class. I have given her a week to refine her skills and then we are off to get her license. I have told her that I am not going to live through her senior year unless she has licensed driver status. I'm just not up to driving her to all the many places that a senior would go. For the most part, she has improved greatly since she last sat behind the wheel. One slight mishap tonight, when she pulled out of the temple parking lot and proceeded to drive down the wrong side of the road. Totally unaware until Dave made mention of the fact. She blames her mistake on Dave being on the passenger side. Kind of interesting, Dave is usually the preferred parent when it comes to assisting the children. (He has more patience.) But in the case of coaching the teenage driver, I am the preferred one. Dave seems to be just a little tense.

Other bits of news: Spencer participated in tennis lessons this week. He enjoyed it very much. We painted our bathroom lime green. Picked a lot of raspberries and beans. Went to the county fair. Enjoyed the cooler weather but hoping that it warms up so our tomatoes will ripen. Catherine finished reading Harry Potter #7.

Well , I hope to be little more consistent in my writing habits.
Until next time.

Love,

Julie Anne

Family Letters - April 12, 2009

Hello everyone,

It is such a beautiful day in Rexburg. After yesterday's vicious storm, it makes it even all the more beautiful.

It has been a few weeks since I have updated you. I guess I got a little busy or something. Being the end of the semester at BYU-I makes my schedule busier. I accompany quite a few music students, which involves juries and recitals at the end. I really enjoy accompanying even more than teaching. It is enjoyable to meet the students and also challenging to learn music that is a little bit of a stretch.

Tryouts for next years choirs begin this week. That means Dave will be putting in some late hours. He usually auditions from after school to 9:00 at night. Kirsten and Sarah will be trying out for the choirs. Wow, I can't believe Sarah is going to High School.

Camille moved back home this week. She will be working at "Circle of Love" during the summer. The store recently lost two employees so she should be getting in some good hours. She also needs to start her hours that go towards her major, dietetics. She is required to work or volunteer hours that relate to this field in order to get accepted into a program next year.

Spencer and Matthew are very much enjoying the spring weather. Spencer has a pogo stick that he has proudly jumped on up to 1000 times. Matthew's enjoys flying his kite.

Catherine is growing taller and taller. It seems that she is now almost as tall as Camille. Catherine enjoys pointing that fact out to Camille.

We transplanted some rhubarb this week. I think that it is so strange that something I despised as a youth now is something I enjoy.

Dave will be in Logan on April 23-25 with his choir. They are combining with Mountain Crest choirs to put on a concert. For those of you in the area, you are most definitely invited to attend. The concert will be in the Logan Tabernacle on the 24th that evening. Kirsten will also be participating.

Hope your Easter has been lovely.

Much love,

Julie Anne

Welcome To Our Blog

Welcome to our Family blog. We are the Hinck Family of Rexburg, Id. Not only are we family, but we are the best of friends. We play together, cry together, laugh together, sing together, learn together, and are striving to become closer and closer each day. There are 8 of us. David and Julie (aka Dad and Mom) are our amazing parents. They have been married for 21 and are as happy as they day they were married.
Then comes the girls: Camille, Kirsten, Sarah, and Catherine.
Camille is in her sophomore year of college at BYU-I in Rexburg. She is majoring in Dietetics as soon as she gets her associates at BYUI and can transfer to BYU in Provo.
Kirsten is in her senior year of high school and is busy with all the craziness of getting ready to graduate. She is currently the female lead in her high school play, The Music Man. That is certainly keeping her nice and busy.
Sarah is just starting high school as a sophomore. (That's when high school starts in Rexburg.) She is Miss Social Butterfly... at least that is what we hear. She is a talented violist in the high school orchestra and is taking from an amazing teacher. She is certainly going to go far with that talent, no doubt. And Catherine is our 7th grader. She also plays in her school orchestra but plays the violin instead. Right now she is busy preparing for the ballet "The Nutcracker" in December. All of the Hinck sisters will be dancing in the show this December.
The 2 boys come at the end. Yes, this probably makes them the spoiled ones of the gang, but we love them for it. Spencer and Matthew are always on the go. Spencer is a little more reserved, but Matthew makes up for that. We guarantee he does.
Last but not least is Sophie. Sophie is our adopted daughter...and she's our cat at the same time. Sophie has to be in the house before Mom goes to bed, just like her kids.
All in all, we love each other. Our differences are what make us complimentary to one another. We are a family, a forever family.
